Three speech language pathologists join to share strategies they’ve employed in various environments to support language learning for children using AAC.

Elizabeth Eskow Bortz will discuss important therapeutic tips that make an impactful difference to meet sensory needs and feature how her Living in The Land of Sensory books can be incorporated into therapy sessions, homes, or classrooms. She’ll focus on how to identify sensory and address sensory needs, teach important words, and build a trusting relationship to promote sensory regulation using key features found in this book series.

Joseph Ahuna will discuss multi-media tools (including google slides, YouTube, gifs) and other tools (e.g. highly motivating items), resources, and supports that he uses frequently in individual, small group, and whole-class settings to increase engagement, participation, and independent, spontaneous communication.

Sara Aguilar will discuss the library of resources she has created to support LAMP™ and LAMP Words for Life® that have been adopted as part of her school and district’s culture of supporting students to “find their voice, be brave and speak up” and make communication more accessible to ALL of the students on campus.
